Things we need:

* the rest of Ser Benawir's story.
* what Mariko Sanvit can tell us about red-eyed GREL.
* anything of interest about the railgun (if that's what it is).
* anything of interest about the round.
* anything of interest about the oil Gabriel found.
* anything of interest about Buchene.
* anything in the Talon database about these exoskeletons (if that's what they are).
* anything of interest about the scrap of what was sneaking up on Boomer.
* a closer look at the Cheetah's footage, including what anyone at Baja has to say about the frame and/or the exoskeleton.
* history of the truck.
* forensic and DNA analysis of the truck's interior (hair, fiber, the whole CSI works).

My best projection of what shot at Craig last night:
http://www.jestertrek.com/temp/heavy-gear/vehicles/Jester/Special/Valkyrie%20Exo%20Technical%20Projection.html

* 75 personal scale armor (50% better than turtleshell)
* twice as fast as a man can walk
* able to easily get around rough and/or rocky terrain
* better than the best stealth suit on Terra Nova
* includes integrated sensors and communications
* made for the colony worlds
* might also have HEP: Vacuum and Limited Life Support for Caprice
* might or might not have some kind of enhanced punch "hydraulics" equivalent to a Gear's punch (though less damaging)

No evidence so far of hover or jump jets, and this projection doesn't answer all the questions, key among them: how was one of these able to so easily escape with two Gears chasing it, one using active sensors? Stealth 3 might be way too low.

In any case, really blurs the line between armor and vehicles.

Quote:
* the rest of Ser Benawir's story.

This shall be included in a teaser which I shall write up today or perhaps tomorrow. We'll see how the day pans out.

EDIT: It's up in the Logs section.

Quote:
* what Mariko Sanvit can tell us about red-eyed GREL.

This also strikes me as being teaser-material, or at least log-material. So I'll do it in that format.

EDIT: It's also up in the Logs section.

Quote:
* anything of interest about the railgun (if that's what it is).

It's a railgun. It's got two metal rails, one on the top of the barrel and one on the bottom, it's got a capacitor to propell a metal mass along the rails - it functions like a railgun would. It's a lot smaller than anyone here, even Joanna, has seen a railgun. The fact that it operates on the same battery pack as the BIL is telling as well.

Quote:
* anything of interest about the round.

The round itself is a teflon coated composite round. The fact that it partially liquefied is apparently no suprise, as it was designed to do so, or at least still be effective while in such a state. The analyst says it may even be intentional - as if the shell was supposed to partially liquefy. He theorizes that perhaps the exterior of the shell outgasses as a plasma, but he isn't sure why it would be desireable to do that yet.

Quote:
* anything of interest about the oil Gabriel found.

Fine, high grade actuator lubricant. The sort of thing you'd see in a Gear's finer joints, like fingers.

Quote:
* anything of interest about Buchene.

Buchene is apparently currently operating in the Sea Command division of Fifth Fleet, charged with garrison duties at a place called Atheni. He's been there for ten years now, having transferred from the NEC Armed Forces.

Quote:
* anything in the Talon database about these exoskeletons (if that's what they are).

Nothing at all on that, I'm afraid.

Quote:
* anything of interest about the scrap of what was sneaking up on Boomer.

The analysis department is currently reconstructing the thing from the scrap you collected. It's pretty destroyed, but they suspect that they'll have at least a model made up shortly. I may as well toss that into the Teaser, since I do so enjoy teasing you guys with this thing.

EDIT: Teaser is up. I'll try to draw you a picture as well.

Quote:
* a closer look at the Cheetah's footage, including what anyone at Baja has to say about the frame and/or the exoskeleton.

The analysts say that it's clear what the CEFers want with the Cheetah - they want pictures and documentation on the actuators to bring back to Caprice, for use in the Battle Frame project.

You can identify the Jan that meets the Cheetah at the door as being Jan Magni 12, now that you've seen him close up. Analysis has scrubbed upt he video and, along with any still that Tynes managed to get during the meeting, have managed to decode Magni's bar-code. They're a bit confused by it - there are things within the code that they don't recognize. Here's what you get.

Magni 12/99 Armiger Armiger Command CAPEGL 2914719BBN

The thing in the corner of the frame in the video is clearly not a Battle Frame now that you've seen glimpses of these exo-skeletons, but the analysts are unable to say more about it - not enough of it on camera.

Quote:
* history of the truck.

This truck is extremely old - almost 200 cycles. The VIN number no longer corresponds to anything in any vehicle registry database you can find. Given the dirt and dust in the undercarriage, along with the heavily worn box of the truck, it's likely that it used to belong to a badlander somewhere in the Karaq Wastes. Despite its age, it's in excellent condition - has recently been given one hell of a tune-up.

Quote:
* forensic and DNA analysis of the truck's interior (hair, fiber, the whole CSI works).

Unsuprisingly, the DNA analysis finds epitheleal cells of two GREL (one Minerva, one Jan) and one human. You don't get any fingerprints, as they were wearing gloves, but you do get some hair from Buchene. You don't have anything to match it to, but now you at least have their DNA on record.

Amongst the two centuries of microscopic destridus in the cab, analysis finds new fibres - dark brown, synthetic, and analogous to the fiber used within the padded flak armour that the CEF favours.

Boy meets girl.
Boy and girl sleep together.
Boy hacks computers.
Boy gets a Port Arthur phone number for the security "company".
Boy hears girl's voice on recordings.
Boy realizes girl is an Earther.
Girl takes 36 hour leave.
Girl visits downtown Sesshu.

Boy wants to follow with guns to see what girl is up to.
Boy wants to go on a second date if at all possible.

Not really apropos of the current situation, but Gabriel and I were able to reason out that the exo is mass produced on Utopia and is of Utopian manufacture. Metallurgy and spectrometry done by Juno back in Baja confirmed it. It ain't Earther tech.

It's probably standard issue armor issued to some Utopian army bought or stolen or appropriated by the CEF and issued to the Valkyries for their own use. Still unsure if the stealth design is native to the exo or is a Valkyrie add-on, but my current theory is that it's native to the vehicle. The exo's sensors being good enough to detect Birkin despite him wearing top-of-the-line Terranovan stealth armor point to the need for both high stealth and high sensors on Utopia for some reason.

The railgun, on the other hand, IS apparently Earther tech, manufactured in orbit of Jupiter with materials mined from Io. Analysis indicates that its likely stats are:

DM x10 , Base Range 5 , ROF +1 , Acc 0 , Base Size 5

We've GOT to get our hands on a few. Wink They'd make almost perfect MAC replacements down the road. The exo is able to use it only after it's stabilized, but a Gear -- even a Ferret -- would have no such limitation, so it would make us a fabulous sniper rifle, too. The only things that aren't 100% sure yet are the ROF (which might be zero and which might be two, we just don't know) and the accuracy.

Is Mem fraternizing with Earthers? Naughty.

That said, if I understand your post, sounds like a fun time to be had by all, but Mem gets to sit in Joanna's chair this time and monitor from afar.

If you mean to imply Mem is emotionally involved in this, you underestimate Mem's ability to discern between recreation and intimacy. Wink Mem can organize this mission himself, but I have a feeling Tynes would object.

Mem wants to take Roland and maybe at least one other person to watch the site from afar. Although if there's an indication that Mason himself is there, then a full-blown breach might be in order. Come online tonight so we can talk about it.

Now, if you really wanted to twist things up, Mem should rebound into Joanna's arms Twisted Evil
